Police are appealing for witnesses after a 15-year old girl reported that she was sexually assaulted at last weekend's Bestival.

The girl, who cannot be named, has told police that she was assaulted during Robyn's set on the festival's main stage on Sunday night (September 11), which took place between 7.30pm and 8.30pm.

The alleged attacker is described as black, in his 20s, of large muscular build, approximately 6ft tall with braided hair. He was wearing a white top with a navy blue collar and navy blue short sleeves, and Wellington boots.

Police are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen the incident to come forward. The organisers of Bestival, which took place over the past weekend on the Isle Of Wight, are also assisting with the investigation.

A spokesman for Hampshire Police said:

Police are appealing for witnesses who know this man or who may have seen someone matching this description walking with a teenage girl in or near the Bestival main area on the evening of Sunday.

It continues:

Officers are also appealing to this man directly to make contact so the full circumstances can be established as soon as possible.
