Will Smith raps Fresh Prince... theme tune in Brixton school - watch

Actor performs for school kids during visit to London

Hollywood actor Will Smith returned to his TV roots during a visit to a London school yesterday, rapping the Fresh Prince Of Bel Air theme tune to an audience of schoolchildren.

Smith was visiting St Martin’s School in Tulse Hill, south London as a guest of Labour MP Chuka Umunna and was roped into performing the memorable rap by the pupils of the all girls school. The actor, known for his roles in films such as I Am Legend and Men In Black was visiting London with his son, Jayden, who is supporting Justin Bieber on his UK tour.

Writing on Twitter, Cuka Umunna said that Smith has received a "proper Lambeth welcome" while MP Tessa Jowell, who was also in attendance during the visit, told Sky News: "Will Smith wanted to see 'London's Harlem'! So proud to show him the best of Brixton!"

The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air theme tune was recently mistaken for a shooting threat. Schools in Beaver County, Pennsylvania were put on security alert after a receptionist phoned Travis Clawson, a 19-year-old student from Ambridge Area High School, to confirm details of an appointment with his eye doctor. Clawson's phone went to his voicemail message, which included a recording of him reciting the lyrics to the Will Smith-rapped song, including the lines: "Shooting some b-ball outside of the school". The receptionist, however, misheard the phrase as "shooting people outside of the school" and contacted the police.
