The Croft small venue in Bristol is to close, its owners have announced.

A statement on Facebook explained that the owners are selling the lease on the building and that it will no longer be called The Croft. At present, no decision has been made as to what will replace the venue when it closes this Sunday (May 12).

The statement reads: "We have decided to sell our lease on for a variety of reasons that we will discuss in more detail at a later date. Having been involved with the venue for over eleven years this was a difficult decision to make, but we have had lots of good times and put on some great bands and club nights. We are confident that those of you who have worked with us in the past will know how emotionally attached we are to The Croft and that we wouldn't make a decision like this without good reason."

A large majority of the gigs that were due to take place at the venue have been moved and will now take place at a nearby venue, the Exchange, with all tickets remaining valid.

The Croft was just one of the hundreds of small venues NME & Jack Daniel’s seeks to champion as part of its annual Small Venues campaign in association with JD Roots. To vote for your favourite small venue head to nme.com/smallvenues now.
