Singer and actress Bernie Nolan has died aged 52 from cancer.

Nolan, who alongside her sisters was a member of The Nolans, was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010. She was given the all-clear in 2012 following chemotherapy and a mastectomy. However, the disease returned and subsequently spread to her brain, bones, lungs and liver. "Bernie passed away peacefully this morning with all of her family around her," said a spokesperson for the family. "The entire family are devastated to have lost beloved Bernie, a wonderful wife, adoring mother and loving sister, she is irreplaceable."

As a member of The Nolans, Bernie Nolan lined up alongside her sisters Maureen, Linda and Coleen and enjoyed huge success with hits such as 'I'm In The Mood For Dancing', which you can watch by clicking below. In 1979, the group auditioned to represent the UK at Eurovision but lost out to Black Lace with their song 'Mary Ann'. Later in her career, Nolan turned her hand to acting and enjoyed stints in both The Bill and Brookside as well as a number of reality TV shows.

Nolan leaves one daughter, Erin, who was born in 1999.
