2013 is predicted to be the biggest year for single sales in UK chart history, according to the Official Charts Company.

Download sales of singles are up 2.5 per cent at the mid-year mark compared with this time in 2012. Last year, total single sales in the UK rose 6 per cent to 188.6 million, with digital sales accounting for 99.6 percent of this figure.

Daft Punk's 'Get Lucky' is so far the biggest selling single of the year, shifting over one million copies since it was released 10 weeks ago. Robin Thicke's 'Blurred Lines' – which also features Pharrell Williams, is in second place, having racked up 828,000 sales in just one month.

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ 'Thrift Shop' is the third biggest selling single of the year with sales of more than 680,000 copies, while P!nk's 'Just Give Me A Reason' is fourth with 652,000 sales ahead of Justin Timberlake's 'Mirrors' with 632,000 sales. The top 10 best-selling singles of the year have all shifted more than half a million copies each, while nearly three quarters of the top 40 (27 tracks) have sold over 300,000 copies each.

'Now That’s What I Call Music 84', is the biggest selling album of 2013 so far, with sales of more than 658,000 copies. Emeli Sandé’s 'Our Version Of Events' is second biggest selling album this year, racking up a further 536,000 sales during 2013. It has sold 1.9 million copies since its release in February 2012.
