A man was shot and killed in a London nightclub in the early hours of Boxing Day (December 26).

The incident happened inside the Avalon club on Shaftesbury Avenue in London's West End at roughly 3am this morning. The victim has not yet been named. One man has been arrested in conjunction with the shooting and is being questioned at a police station in south London, reports The Guardian. Shaftesbury Avenue is closed whilst police continue their investigation.

A statement from Scotland Yard reads: "Police and London ambulance service attended to find a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to hospital but died from his injuries. Next of kin have not been informed. We await formal identification."
