The new series of hit HBO series Girls will feaure new music from Lily Allen, Beck and Jenny Lewis, the show's music supervisor has revealed.

The third series of the Lena Dunham-scripted comedy will be broadcast in the UK on Sky Atlantic on January 20, 2014 at 10pm with a double bill of episodes, a week after it begins in the US.

Speaking to Radio.com about how this season's music differs from previous soundtracks, which have included Icona Pop's 'I Don’t Care' and tracks by Belle & Sebastian, Robyn, Fleet Foxes, Sleigh Bells, Santigold, Angel Haze, Azealia Banks and Solange, music supervisor Manish Raval revealed that a host of new tracks will feature across the 12 half-hour episodes.

"It’s the same sound, same vibe, but one thing that’s different this season is we’ve had the luxury of getting people to contribute brand new songs for us," he said. "We had Miguel write us a new song. We have a new one by Jenny Lewis. We have a brand new Lily Allen track. A brand new Christina Perri track. We were able to get our hands on a brand new Beck song, which he just finished for his new record and gave to us to put on the show before the release of his album."

He continued: "We were in a fortunate position where we were able to get access to a lot of great songwriters and bands to give us new material or write us new material for the show. A lot of that stuff will appear on the soundtrack, which we’re working on right now."

Created, directed and written by Dunham, the show has been a major hit since it debuted last year (2012) and took home two prizes at last January's (2013) Golden Globe Awards: 'Best Television Series - Comedy or Musical' and 'Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series' - Comedy or Musical' for Dunham.
