Sex Pistols – and One Direction – line-up vinyl Record Store Day releases

Boyband will re-release latest single 'Midnight Memories' on vinyl next month

Sex Pistols and One Direction have both announced plans for special releases this Record Store Day.

The iconic punk band will release a limited edition numbered 7×7" vinyl box set which features alternative takes of 'Never Mind The Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols' tracks, plus two 1977 studio mixes of the 'Belsen Was A Gas', including a previously unreleased demo version of the song.

Each single has unique front and back sleeves taken from rare Sex Pistols artwork or import sleeves. Tracks included on the separate 7-inch discs in the box include 'Holidays In The Sun' and 'Seventeen' as well as a demo version of 'No Future'. Meanwhile, One Direction have announced plans to release their single 'Midnight Memories' on vinyl to celebrate Record Store Day 2014. The picture disc will also feature a live version of 'Rock Me', taken from the motion picture One Direction: This Is Us.

'Midnight Memories' entered the Top 40 at Number 39 yesterday (March 16), ending the boy band's run of high charting singles. The song features on the X Factor alumni's latest album and moved up 34 places from last week's position of 73.

Record Store Day will take place this year on April 19. Other acts who have announced special releases so far include David Bowie, Suede, Jake Bugg, Green Day and LCD Soundsystem.
