USA football captain Clint Dempsey set to release rap album – hear first song now

Footballer raps under the name 'Deuce'

The USA football captain Clint Dempsey is set to release a rap album. Click above to hear his song 'It's Poppin'' now.

The former Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur player, currently playing with his international side in the World Cup 2014, has recorded a 13-track album under his rap name Deuce.

Lyrically, The Wall Street Journal reports that Dempsey raps about going from rags to riches, "banging Gs" (scoring goals) and being "Captain America". The album is titled 'The Redux' and was recorded during a two week period before the World Cup began.

This won’t be the first time Dempsey has dabbled in hip-hop, having previously recorded the 2006 World Cup track 'Don’t Tread' with fellow rapper XO. The pair have collaborated once again on 'The Redux' with rapper Mike Chehadé also contributing to the record.

"We're not known as a soccer powerhouse—we're almost known for being soft. But Clint has this edge," Chehadé says.

Dempsey will be giving away a portion of the proceeds from the album to the East Texas Food Ban.
