Chubby Checker has settled out of court with the makers of a penis measuring app.

The pioneering rock'n'roll singer – who popularised the twisting dance craze with his 1958 hit 'The Twist' – was suing the makers of an app that estimated the size of a man's penis, called The Chubby Checker, for $500 million (£294,399,060) over "irreversible damage and harm". However, the case has now come to a conclusion, reports The Guardian.

Designed by Hewlett-Packard subsidiary Palm, Inc, the app promised to help users assess prospective male partners based on their shoe size, with users inputting the man's shoe size and the app estimating the length of the man's member. The app was taken offline in 2012 following a cease and desist order from Checker's lawyers. Speaking previously, Checker's lawyer Willie Gary commented: "This lawsuit is about preserving the integrity and legacy of a man who has spent years working hard at his musical craft and has earned the position of one of the greatest musical entertainers of all time".

Checker, born Ernest Evans, claimed that the app tarnished his name, which he said was now associated with "obscene sexual connotation and images".

Now 72, Checker continues to perform and had a Number One single on Billboard's US Dance Chart with 'Knock Down The Walls' in 2008.
