A woman has died after being found unconscious in a toilet block at the BoomTown Fair festival this weekend.

The 31-year-old woman attended the Winchester event with her husband and was found at 2pm on Saturday (August 9), BBC News reports. NOFX, Jimmy Cliff, The Wailers, Johnny Flynn & The Sussex Wit, Shaggy and Chas N Dave all featured on the line-up for this year's festival.

The unnamed woman was taken to a nearby hospital but died shortly after arrival. Police are investigating the death but do not believe it was suspicious.

A statement from Hampshire Police said: "It is too early to speculate on cause of death, and a post-mortem examination will be conducted in due course to help determine this. Police are providing support to her family including her husband, who was at the festival with her."

Meanwhile, a festival spokesman added: "BoomTown fair would like to express their sincerest condolences to the family of the young woman who was found unconscious on site but despite the efforts of all our staff involved she was later pronounced dead shortly after arriving at Winchester hospital. Our thoughts are with all her loved ones at this tragic time and the festival is doing all it can to assist those involved."

BoomTown Fair Festival takes place in Winchester at the Matterley Bowl Estate. 2014 marked the sixth time the festival has been held.
