Young Jeezy has pleaded not guilty to possessing an illegal assault weapon.

The rapper, real name Wayne Jenkins, was one of six people arrested at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Irvine, California on Sunday (August 24), the BBC reports.

The other five individuals have also pleaded not guilty to possessing an AK-47 assault rifle. The rapper will remain in jail on $1million (£603,000) bail and is due back in court on September 5.

The arrests follow the fatal shooting of a 38-year-old man backstage at a gig Young Jeezy co-headlined with Wiz Khalifa at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View called Under the Influence of Music.

Police investigating the incident say none of those charged are suspects in the shooting.

Meanwhile, as Billboard reports, an unrelated Wiz Khalifa concert at Michigan State University has been cancelled. A statement on the venue's website reads: "Due to Michigan State University's review of recent events and assessment of campus concerns, MSU has decided to cancel the event that was scheduled for September 13, 2014, which was to be held at the Breslin Center on the campus of MSU."
