Formula 1 star Lewis Hamilton reveals he is working on new music

The racing champion says he's spent most of 2014 in the studio

Formula 1 star Lewis Hamilton – pictured above with rapper Nas – has revealed that he is currently recording more music.

Speaking to BBC Newsbeat, Hamilton explained that he had spent much of the past year working in the studio, despite having a tough training regime.

“I have been writing a lot, even on race weeks,” he said. “It’s something I’m very passionate about. It keeps me chilled and doing things you love is a good thing. When I was in Japan, I was in the studio, Monday to Wednesday. Then, Thursday to Sunday, I was racing. Then I was straight back in the studio.” He added: “At the moment music is just a hobby, but I’m very serious about it.”

Back in 2012 it was reported that the Formula 1 world champion was planning a musical collaboration with rapper J Cole and that he had recorded an entire album of R&B tracks, but he had no plans to release anything.
