Ed Sheeran has been named as iTunes top-selling artist of 2014 in the UK.

The singer beat Sam Smith and the cast of Frozen to claim the top stop, The Guardian reports. The accomplishment is added to a long list for Sheeran, who has also been named Spotify's most-streamed artist for the year and is this month celebrating 1m sales of his sophomore album 'X'.

Also featured on the list of iTunes' bestselling albums were Arctic Monkeys, who took 10th place with their 2013 record 'AM'. London Grammar, George Ezra and Paolo Nutini were also named.

Sheeran, whose single 'Thinking Out Loud' also appeared in iTunes' bestselling songs of the year, was quoted as saying that he was "absolutely buzzing" about his place atop the bestsellers list. The news comes on the back of the announcement that the singer is up for two Grammy Awards with nominations in both the Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album categories.
