Soul singer Mavis Staples has announced she will be performing at this year's Glastonbury festival.

The news was revealed by Staples' bandleader Rick Holmstrom on his website. The Worthy Farm appearance is included alongside shows in Liverpool, London and Cambridge. "Looks like we'll be hitting more incredible locales in 2015. The Mavis Staples calender is filling up fast… Look forward to seeing you!" Holmstrom wrote.

Mavis Staples has released music both as a solo artist and with her families band The Staples Singers. The singer's hit singles include 'I'll Take You There', 'Let's Do It Again', and 'If You're Ready (Come Go with Me)'.

The only act that has been officially announced for Glastonbury 2015 is Lionel Richie. The Dalai Lama recently announced a special appearance at the festival, but the post was later deleted.

They will also receive £5,000 in cash while two runners-up will be given £2,500 each.
