Radio DJ Neil Fox has been arrested for an alleged sexual offence dating back to the early 1990s.

The arrest relates to an incident with a woman and marks the third time the radio DJ and former Pop Idol judge has been held over sexual assault allegations.

BBC News reports that Fox was arrested after voluntarily attending a central London police station earlier today (March 13) and has been bailed.

Fox was first taken in by police following allegations of historic sexual assault against two women in September 2014 before a second arrest in December of that same year.

In December it was reported that two alleged assaults were from the 1990s and the other from 2007.

In September, Bauer Media, who run Magic, the radio station on which Fox was then working on the breakfast show, released a statement about the 53-year-old broadcaster, confirming that he would be taken off the air. Fox joined London's Capital Radio in 1987 and remained there until 2005. He worked as a judge on Pop Idol from 2001 to 2003 and joined Magic in 2005.
