Rapper Chinx was shot and killed in Queens, New York early this morning (May 17), the New York Daily News reports.

The 31-year-old – real name Lionel Pickens – was hit multiple times in the body as he drove his Porsche down Queens Boulevard at around 4am local time. A 27-year-old passenger travelling with Chinx was also shot twice in the back and critically wounded.

The shooter fired from a second car, fleeing the scene as the victim's vehicle came to a stop. The wounded person is in critical but stable condition at Jamaica Hospital.

The Legion Media Group and 4 Kings management company have since confirmed their client's death. "Chinx was one of the most talented, professional, and determined rappers this industry had to offer," said publicist Chanel Rae in a statement. "Furthermore, he was a friend."

Chinx, a close associate of French Montana who signed the MC to his Coke Boys imprint, was preparing to release his debut studio album 'Welcome To JFK'. Label mate Lil Durk has taken to Twitter to pay tribute to Pickens, simply posting 'Rip @ChinxMusic'.
