Noise rock band Spectres record song to rival Sam Smith’s ‘Spectre’ Bond theme

Bristol four-piece set to release their own song on 007-inch vinyl in October

Bristol-based band Spectres have announced plans to release their own, unofficial theme song for the upcoming James Bond film, Spectre.

It was announced earlier today that Sam Smith will release the official theme, but the noise rockers are taking their almost namesake film very seriously and intend to rival Smith’s ‘Writing’s On The Wall’ with their own track, simply titled ‘Spectre’.

‘Spectre’ is a duet between Spectres frontman Joe Hatt and vocalist Ela Orleans. It will be available on limited-edition gold vinyl 007-inch from October 23, as well as via all major download and streaming services.

The single follows the release of Spectres’ debut album, ‘Dying’, earlier this year.

The band play the following live dates:

Bristol, The Rest Room (September 12)
Bristol, Simple Things Festival (October 24)
Cardiff, Welsh Millennium Centre (October 31)
Stowmarket, John Peel Centre (November 13)
Norwich, Owl Sanctuary (November 14)
Manchester, Soup Kitchen (November 19)
Edinburgh, Sneaky Pete’s (November 20)
Glasgow, Broadcast (November 21)

Smith had previously – and repeatedly – denied that he will be involved with the 24th Bond film, which is out on October 26. Just last week the singer told BBC Radio 2’s Jo Whiley that he was “definitely not” working on the project.

Radiohead became the surprise bookies’ favourites to record the theme following an anonymous £15,000 bet being placed on the likelihood of them performing the track.
