Velvet Revolver star pays tribute to brother
Scott Weiland says his sibling inspired new album
Velvet Revolver’s Scott Weiland paid tribute to his brother - who died recently - during the first show of his band's US tour on Thursday (May 3) at the Avalon Hollywood Club.
Michael Weiland died of a drug overdose during the recording of ’Libertad’, and a brother of drummer Matt Sorum died about the same time in similar circumstances.
Weiland told the crowd: “It literally crushed us. It made this record happen for both of us.”
The band then played a version of Pink Floyd’s ’Wish You Were Here’ to a background of video footage of Michael Weiland.
Velvet Revolver previewed a host of new material at the gig, including forthcoming single ’She Builds Quick Machines’, ’The Last Flight’, 'Get Out The Door’ and ’Just Sixteen’, reports Reuters.
