Scott Weiland calls Velvet Revolver statement a cover-up

Former frontman man speaks out on split

Former Velvet Revolver frontman Scott Weiland released a statement this morning (April 2) responding to yesterday's comments made by the other members of the band.

As previously reported, Slash, Duff McKagan, Matt Sorum and Dave Kushner released their own statement yesterday, announcing their split with Weiland, blaming 'his
increasingly erratic onstage behavior and personal problems'.

This morning Weiland released the following statement:

"After reading the comment by Duff, Matt, Dave and the illustrious 'GUITAR HERO' Saul Hudson, a.k.a Slash, I find it humorous that the so called four 'founding members' of Velvet Revolver, better known to themselves as 'The Project' before I officially named the band, would decide to move on without me after I had already claimed the group dead in the water on March 20 in Glasgow.

"In response to Slash's comment regarding my commitment, I have to say it is a blatant and tired excuse to cover up the truth. The truth of the matter is that the band had not gotten along on multiple levels for some time. On a musical level, there were moments of joy, inspiration, fun...at times, but let's not forget the multiple trips to rehab every member of the band had taken (with the exception of one member, no need to mention his name)."

Weiland then spoke about his forthcoming reunion tour with Stone Temple Pilots:

"Personally speaking, I choose to look forward to the future and performing with a group of friends I have known my entire life, people who have always had my back. This also speaks to my commitment to my music and my fellow band mates in STP and to the fans who I feel would much rather watch a group of musicians who enjoy being together as opposed to a handful of discontents who at one time used to call themselves a gang.

P.S. Don't be fooled by veiled trickery."

He then added cryptically, referring to their search for a new singer:

"P.P.S. Good hunting lads, I think Sebastian Bach would be a fantastic choice."

The group played their last show last night (April 1) together in Amsterdam.

Thank god Scott has finally come to his senses and ditched Velvet Revolver for the great Stone Temple Pilots! I always hoped this day would come!

This is a true Velvet Revolver story...I was at a party one time and I had drunk quite a bit of alcohol. Do you know the feeling, when you're right on the verge of puking but you just might get by if you don't move too much and/or people don't bug ya? Well, someone at the party put on a VR record and it was all over; I tossed my cookies. I actually remember saying, "please take that off" right before I threw up. I'm not kidding...Need less to say, I'm not a fan.

FUUUUUUUU*K!!!!! Saw 'em last month in Newcastle and they absolutely rocked it. Scott was amazing and so were the rest of the band. To quote Ted Striker in Airplane, "WHAT A PISSER".

Im with Scott Weiland on this one. He's a ****in genius frontman and his mad behaviour is what comes with the territory. We will all be better off with a new STP album and tour...Velvet Revolver are one-trick ponies

Yesss! Sebastian Bach should replace him!! He was supposed to be the orignal frontman but Slash said they would just be Skid Row - although SR now sound like VR, so I deffo want this to happen.
