Velvet Revolver have revealed that they recorded an entire album's worth of material with Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor, but are unlikely to ever release it.

In an interview with Brazilian website Lokaos.net, drummer Matt Sorum said it had been his idea to invite the Slipknot/Stone Sour frontman to join the band during their search for a replacement for former singer Scott Weiland, but that ultimately Slash had decided against him becoming the band's singer.

Speaking about the sessions with Taylor, Sorum said:

We liked it. We had ten songs. We could put the album out tomorrow. It's done. I said, 'Let's go.' But Slash wasn't feeling it. If we're not all feeling it together, we can't do it.

The drummer added that Taylor had been a pleasure to deal with, but that without Slash's agreement he wasn't able to join the band.

He said: "When we asked Corey Taylor to join, that was my idea. I said, 'Why don't we get Corey Taylor from Slipknot?' And he's a great guy, he's an absolute sweetheart and he rocks. But Slash just didn't see it like the rest of us did."

Sorum also said that he didn't believe that Velvet Revolver had come to an end, it was just on an extended hiatus. He added: "It hasn't fallen into place yet. It's a bit of a grey era. I don't wanna say it's over. It's just on a hiatus. We'll make music again together at some point."
