Viva Brother, The Wombats and Zola Jesus among first bands announced for CMJ 2011

Metronomy, Dum Dum Girls and CSS will also play the five day event in New York this October

Viva Brother,The Wombats and Zola Jesus are amongst the first artists to be announced for this year’s CMJ event in New York City.

Taking place October 18-22 at various venues across the city, this year’s CMJ Music Marathon and Film Festival will also see musical showings from Metronomy, Dum Dum Girls, Sea Of Bees and CSS.

The yearly event will see over 1,300 live performances, which will take place in over 80 venues in New York City. Panels and Q&A sessions also make up the five day event, which is similar to Brighton’s The Great Escape. A bunch of additional bands will announced soon.

The line up for CMJ 2011 so far is:
