We Are Scientists have revealed touring the UK has had an unexpected cost for them – in footwear.

The band, who took part in this year’s ShockWaves NME Awards Tour, and have just finished their own headlining dates, have explained that playing shows have left them shoeless.

Speaking to NME.COM, frontman Keith Murray said that his regular audience interactions have left him with cold feet.

“I think everyone would be interested to hear and report that multiple pairs of shoes were wrenched from my body while I crowd surfed over the course of the tour,” he explained.

The situation got so dire that he was forced to rely on the charity of a friend when the band arrived in Leeds.

“My last pair was thieved at the Leeds show,” said Murray, before explaining a Kaiser Chief came to his aid. “Ricky Wilson, who was in attendance, went home and brought me two pairs of shoes - one replacement pair of converse, and one insane pair of glittery silver Puma golfing shoes. The man deserves credit for his insanely good deeds, I think.”

However with the footwear fortune didn’t last, and one unsuspecting fan has got a unique piece of rock'n'roll memorabilia – a pair of shoes worn by the frontmen of both Kaiser Chiefs and We Are Scientists.

“Unfortunately, the Converse he gave me were stolen two days later when I jumped into the crowd in Cambridge.” said Murray. “The little monsters!”

Are you the Cambridge shoe-knapper? Do you own the most exciting item of modern day indie rock memorabilia? If so email us at news@nme.com with I Have The Shoes in the subject line (and we won’t tell the band).

However this is not an excuse to send your old smelly trainers to NME, we will want proof. So please include a contact number plus a picture of the shoes and the names of potential witnesses if possible.
