Weezer's Rivers Cuomo discharged from hospital
Singer set to head home to recover from a punctured lung
Weezer's Rivers Cuomo has been discharged from hospital.
The frontman, who suffered a punctured lung and cut spleen after their tour bus crashed on Sunday (December 6), spent six days in hospital.
Updating fans via their blog, the band's webmaster Karl 'Karlophone' Koch announced the news.
"The time has come for freedom!" he wrote on their blog at Weezer.com. "After walking with and without a cane and getting some good hematocrit blood test results on Thursday, Rivers was given the go ahead to be released from the hospital!"
Although discharged, the singer now faces a lengthy cross-country bus drive before he makes it back home to Los Angeles.
"One of the strict doctors orders is that Rivers cannot get on an airplane for a month, as the air pressure changes would be bad for his healing punctured lung," Koch explained. "We've got seasons 1 and 2 of 'Mad Men' to watch, some books to read, a freezer full of organic entrees, and the bus is wired for internet, so work can continue uninterrupted."
