Weezer's Rivers Cuomo hoping to avoid personal mudbath at Reading And Leeds Festivals

Band are hoping it stays dry at this weekend's event (Aug 27-29)

Weezer's Rivers Cuomo is hoping the possible wet weather at the Reading And Leeds Festivals this weekend (August 27-29) doesn't result in another mudbath for him.

The band play Leeds today (August 28) and Reading tomorrow (29), and are hoping they can stay clean.

"I remember once, I think 2001, there was an incredible amount of mud in the field and the audience was throwing mud all over the place," Cuomo told NME. To read the full interview with the frontman, pick up this week's issue of NME (out nationwide now and also available digitally worldwide).

"Right before we went on, the Butthole Surfers were on and just as [frontman] Gibby Haynes was walking off the stage and Weezer was walking on, Gibby said, 'Whatever you people do, don't throw mud at Weezer' which, of course, incited the most massive storm of mud to rain down on us from the audience.

"I hope that doesn't happen again," he added.

NME is coming live from both sites at Reading And Leeds Festivals this weekend. Head to NME.COM/festivals for full coverage including news, reviews, videos and picture galleries.

Plus make sure you buy next week's issue of NME to get the definitive review of Reading And Leeds Festivals, either on UK newsstands from September 1 or digitally worldwide.
