A Weezer fan has paid $25,000 (£17,500) to go bird-watching with frontman Rivers Cuomo.

The trip comes as part of the 'Weezer Experience Bundle' the band made available to fans pre-ordering their new album. Alongside the standard CD, download and vinyl formats of the album, fans could pay to take a trip to the Galapagos Islands with Cuomo in order to spot rare birds together.

A Facebook post by the band overnight appears to confirm that the offer has been taken up by one wealthy fan. The original offer included travel as part of the price, with Cuomo and the mystery buyer going to the Galapagos Islands by greyhound bus.

A breakdown of the offer from Weezer's website includes the chance to:

Take a Greyhound to the Galapagos with Rivers where you’ll stay only for a limited time. Once you get to the islands, you’ll go bird watching to try and find the elusive White-cheeked pintail

You’ll go on a catamaran ride to Charles Darwin Research Station. Sing 'the British are coming' with Rivers in the Galapagos but replace every lyric about “old king george” to “lonesome george”

Enjoy your complimentary signed copy of the album and a pair of tickets to see the band on their summer tour with Panic! At The Disco

Finally, you will be named King of the World for a day

'Weezer' is the band's latest self-titled album and is being dubbed 'The White Album' by fans thanks to its all-white cover. It follows similar themed albums (blue, green and red) from their back catalogue.

The record will be released on April 1 and includes the singles 'Do You Wanna Get High?' and 'Thank God for Girls'.

Weezer ('The White Album'):

'California Kids'
'Wind in Our Sail'
'Thank God for Girls'
'(Girl We Got A) Good Thing'
'Do You Wanna Get High?'
'King of the World'
'Summer Elaine and Drunk Dori'
'L.A. Girlz'
'Jacked Up'

The band will also perform live in Manchester and London on the week of the album's release with gigs at Manchester Academy (April 3) and London's O2 Academy Brixton (April 5) announced last week.

Weezer released their ninth and most recent album 'Everything Will Be Alright In The End' in October 2014.
