WESTLIFE TOP UK DOWNLOAD CHART

Westlife make a little bit of chart history...

WESTLIFE have nabbed the number one slot in the first ever official UK download chart.

The Irish boyband released a live version of their 1999 single ‘Flying Without Wings’ as a download to coincide with the launch of the new chart.

Other acts figuring highly in the historic countdown, which was announced on Radio 1 by DJ Scott Mills – include Maroon 5 and Shapeshifters.

However, Westlife’s chart placing will be a disappointment to those who had hoped that the chart would reflect the underground nature of downloading. In weeks before the UK Chart Company began collating an official rundown, the most-downloaded tracks had been ’s download single ‘There’s No Such Thing As A Jaggy Snake’.
