White Lies are battling for the Number One spot in the Official Album Chart this week with their third album 'BIG TV'.

The London trio released the album on Monday (August 12) and it is currently placed at Number Two on the Official Chart Company midweek update today (August 14). They are narrowly behind Britain's Got Talent runners up Richard & Adam, hoping to spend their third week at Number One with their debut album 'The Impossible Dream'.

Speaking to NME about the chart battle, the band said: "We wanted to make a record for our fans, and it seems to be paying off. We're humbled their dedication is as strong as ever, it spurs us on in everything else we do. It took some time to get this record how we wanted it, there's nothing like seeing hard work paying off." Asked how they would celebrate if they do get the chart topping album, they add: "We were in Northern Russia when our first album went to Number One, this time we’ll be Seoul, South Korea - so whatever happens we’ll be celebrating alone again!"

Elsewhere in the Album Chart, US country star Glen Campbell looks set to enter at Number 36 with his new full-length, 'See You There'.

In the Single Chart, Miley Cyrus is set lose her place at the top of the UK's Official Singles Chart with her single 'Can't Stop' currently behind Ellie Goulding's 'Burn' at the midweek stage. Lady Gaga's new single 'Applause' is also selling well and currently sits at Number 11 after just seven hours on sale. New entries in the Singles Chart this week are expected from Arctic Monkeys with 'Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High?' (5), The Wanted (6), Drake (15), Ray Foxx (13) and The Vaccines (34).
