Ex- Wilco member talks about his departure

He left before it got ‘superugly’

Former Wilco member Jay Bennett had talked about his departure from the band.

Bennett left the band in 2002 following the release of ’Yankee Hotel Foxtrot’. His exit from the band was documented in the 2002 film ’I Am Trying To Break Your Heart’.

Speaking about his departure to St. Louis Today, Bennett said: “"I needed to go and do what I'm doing now.

"It was a mutual decision, and I don't think I can come up with anything better than things had run their course.

"He ( Jeff Tweedy- Wilco frontman) needed to be the leader of a band, and I needed to be the leader of a band, and we realised that before it got superugly."

Bennett is set to release his new solo CD ’The Magnificent Defeat’ in the US this month.
