WILLIE SAYS BE MY (UNUSUAL) GUEST

US presidential candidate Al Gore's wife Tipper joins the host on the bongos, '80s star Tiffany sings a John Mellencamp song...

WILLIE NELSON's 15th annual FARM AID fundraiser last weekend (September 17) threw up some unlikely collaborations when US Presidential candidate AL GORE's wife TIPPER and 80's starlet TIFFANY joined the two of the headliners on stage.

Tipper Gore joined Willie Nelson on bongos for his show closing set ,while Tiffany, who had a transatlantic smash in 1988 with 'I Think We're Alone Now', sang on John Mellencamp's 'Key West Intermezzo (I Saw You First)'.

They were not the only stars on show at the day-long event at the Bristow, Va venue in Washington DC.

Also raising cash and awareness for the small family farms of the US were Neil Young, Crosby, Stills & Nash - who Young caught up with for a brief C, S, N & Y reunion - Barenaked Ladies, Travis Tritt, Arlo Guthrie, Shannon Curfman, Sawyer Brown and others.

According to www.billboard.com, Young was particularly animated during his 45-minute solo set, running through tracks from his recent 'Silver and Gold' album and urging viewers of the live Country Music Television broadcast to "get off their couch" and make a donation.
