A stuffed armadillo that country singer Willie Nelson uses as an onstage mascot has been returned after being stolen from a gig in Las Vegas.

The singer was greeting fans after a concert earlier this week (March 31) when the prop, named Ol' Dillo, went missing.

According to the Belfast Telegraph, officials at the Westin Lake Las Vegas said Nelson's crew called them from the road in the middle of the night, asking the resort to look at CCTV footage to find out what happened to the singer's mascot. However, the hotel has since confirmed that the animal has been returned safely. Westin marketing director Matt Boland said he was outside the hotel the morning after the concert when a man drove up and handed him a shoebox with the armadillo inside and asked him to return it to Nelson.

The resort have now posted the creature to Nelson in California. This is the second time the armadillo has been stolen in recent months. It was also snatched by an audience member when the singer was performing at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester last September as part of a US tour.
