Willis Earl Beal has released a new digital EP, called 'Principles Of A Protagonist'.

The EP is free to download from BitTorrent and makes up the soundtrack to a short animated film, also called Principles Of A Protagonist, which is based on a novella by Chicago lo-fi artist Beal.

The animation will be unveiled later this month. Scroll down to watch a trailer for the film. The EP came out yesterday, and features five new versions of songs from his debut album, 'Acousmatic Sorcery', including 'Cosmic Queries', which you can hear below.

In May Willis Earl Beal was arrested and detained in the Netherlands after he allegedly kicked a man in the face during a gig, however, he was later released without charge.

A fan-shot YouTube clip showed Beal ending his set early and saying: "Because of a few bad apples, we all miss out on one more glorious, fantastic, lovely performance. I love you, and I even love the guy whose face I kicked in. I love him, too. He's a good guy! He's just drunk, a little."

Willis Earl Beal is currently on tour in North America.
