Willow Smith is on course to top the UK singles chart this Sunday (December 12), according to midweek sales figures.

The singer's track 'Whip My Hair' is currently outselling its nearest contender, Black Eyed Peas' new effort 'The Time (Dirty Bit)', while Ellie Goulding's cover of Elton John's 'Your Song' is in the midweek Number Three position.

If Smith does go on to top the chart, the 10-year-old will become the youngest person to do so since Little Jimmy Osmond's 1972 Number One 'Long Haired Lover From Liverpool'.

In the UK albums chart, Take That's 'Progress' looks set to hold on to the top spot for the fourth consecutive week and surpass one million sales.

Check NME.COM on Sunday from 7pm (GMT) for the full chart results.

Pick up this week's issue of NME, on UK newsstands and available digitally worldwide now, for an interview with Smith about her newfound fame.
