Wretch 32 has thanked Ian Brown for giving him the green light to sample The Stone Roses' 'Fools Gold' on his new single.

'Unorthodox', a collaboration with fellow rapper Example, is battling it out with LMFAO for the Number One spot this Sunday (April 24).

The London hip-hop star - real name Jermaine Scott - said he has been encouraged by the positive feedback to the track, which you can watch by scrolling down below.

"Ian Brown giving it the thumbs-up was amazing I loved 'Fools Gold' so much when I was growing up. It has a real sunny vibe," he told the Daily Star.

"LMFAO might still beat me so I’m going to keep my head down and stay focused. Even my family and friends are like: ‘Don’t mess this up now," Scott added.

Check NME this Sunday from 7pm (BST) for the full chart rundown.
