Wu-Tang Clan say they didn't 'sample' Beatles after all

The Wu Tang Clan have retracted a statement they made earlier this week claiming they had sampled The Beatles song 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps'.

"We didn't sample The Beatles, it was a replay, pardon," they wrote on their MySpace page yesterday (October 3).

The band added: "The statement that we made yesterday was incorrect and we apologise for any confusion it may have caused. We DID NOT sample The Beatles… rather we did an INTERPOLATION of the classic George Harrison composition 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps'.

"Dhani Harrison, son of George, through his friendship with the RZA, played guitar on the song and he himself helped secure the re-use licence."

Wu Tang Clan also announced that their version of the song, 'The Heart Gently Weeps', can be heard on Loud.com.
