A rapper affiliated with Wu-Tang Clan has cut off own penis in an alleged suicide attempt.

TMZ reports that Andre Johnson, cut off his penis and then jumped from a second floor balcony in the early hours of this morning (April 16) in North Hollywood, California. He was found in a critical state on the pavement and was rushed to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center hospital.

CNN reports that Johnson - otherwise known as Christ Bearer - was a member of the hip hop group Northstar of Long Beach, California. They add that Johnson's detached penis was transported to the hospital with him. Members of the group, who live in the same building as Johnson told TMZ that they say they weren't on "any hard drugs that would cause him to do such a thing".

Meanwhile, Wu-Tang Clan are set to release two albums this year, 'The Wu - Once Upon A Time In Shaolin' and 'A Better Tomorrow', the former being limited to just one copy which will be exhibited and later sold to the highest bidder.

The band plan to take the album on a "tour" of museums, galleries and festivals, where they will charge between $30-$50 (£18 to £30) to view and listen to the album. The listening sessions will take place behind heavy security and will use headphones provided by the venue, to prevent the album leaking.

The group's long-promised 20th anniversary album, 'A Better Tomorrow', is still set for a standard commercial release this summer.
