Wu-Tang Clan’s Raekwon says he and Kanye West have ‘definite’ plans to work together again

Raekwon appeared onstage with Kanye West during rapper's surprise gig at London Koko

Wu-Tang Clan’s Raekwon has revealed that he and Kanye West have plans to work together in the future, after he appeared onstage at West’s surprise concert at London’s Koko earlier this week.

In an interview with NME, Raekwon compliments West on his musical abilities and talks about the possibility of future collaboration. “Me and Ye [Kanye] definitely have plans to work together in the future. We talked about it many times before,” he says. “I always told him I think he’s a dope producer still, as well as an MC, and I would love to work with him again, whatever it takes. If I could get him on a track, or if I could get him to produce a track, it’s all about the kings coming together and really doing something that makes sense for both of our brands.”

Raekwon also talked about how the two artists became friends after he worked with West on the track ‘Gorgeous’, which appears on West’s ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’ album. “We worked together on doing the record and people went crazy so that automatically gives us both the indication that they respect our craftsmanship together. It’s a possibility you’ll hear something soon from me and Ye.”

Speaking about his performance at Koko, Raekwon adds: “He heard I was in London and I heard he had a private secret location event and he called me, he was like ‘Yo, what’s up? Why don’t you come out?’ and I was like ‘Let me know where the secret location is’. And when I got there it was sold out, like a real concert, I was like ‘Oh shit’… It felt good to be there though.”

Kanye West welcomed a host of other guests on stage during his London show, including London grime MCs including Skepta, JME, Meridian Dan and Novelist plus US rapper Big Sean. The Chicago rapper also debuted a brand new track with Vic Mensa and performed new single ‘All Day’ twice.

It was recently reported that the sole copy of Wu-Tang Clan’s secret album ‘Once Upon A Time In Shaolin’, which is to be auctioned online, cannot be released for at least 88 years due to copyright laws.
