Wyclef to make sitcom based on his life

Fugees frontman starts work on American TV series

The Fugees star Wyclef Jean is set to make a comedy series loosely based on his life.

Jean will co-write and provide music for the series, which is being produced in conjunction with HBO, the American network behind 'Sex And The City', 'The Sopranos' and 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' .

Jean has acted before, taking roles in the US TV series 'Third Watch' and in two films, 'One Last Thing' and 'Dirty'.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the series is in the early stages of development.

The Fugees have recently reunited to work on follow-up album to 1996's mega-seller 'The Score', and, as previously reported on NME.COM, will be playing two British dates.

The shows are at:

Manchester Evening News (December 13)
London Hammersmith Apollo (14)
