ROCK ON TOMMY!
The stars watch as De La Soul and Afrika Bambaataa show why the label is so revered...
The show is part of an anniversary tour that will see the Tommy Boy collective perform in Ireland, Scotland, and mainland Europe.
Joining Bambaataa and De La Soul's Maceo on the decks were Dan The Automator - Albarn's partner in the Gorillaz project - and legendary producer Arthur Baker.
Speaking to NMEHIPHOP.COM just after the show, Maceo explained what could be expected from the tour.
"Everybody's pretty much playing what they feel for the most part," he said. "I play mostly late 80s early 90s, also some old breaks from the mid-70s and early 80s. With 'Bam and Dan The Automator and Arthur - it's interesting to hear them play some new stuff from today in their set, letting me know that they was feeling some stuff that's out there today. So, there's a pretty good balance with what is going on and it was just a good party, everybody had a great time."
As reported on NME.COM earlier today, Wyclef also appeared at the Usher gig last night, joining him on stage at Hammersmith Apollo for some impromptu freestyling before heading off to the Tommy Boy party.
The Tommy Boy tour continues with a show in Dublin tonight (July 6).
