Lollapalooza Festival organisers have announced the details of a contest that gives bands the world over the chance to perform at the massive Chicago event.

Last Band Standing asks bands to submit their music and information online so the public can vote on them. Finalists will compete at a live show in Chicago where celebrity judges will determine the winners.

The winner of the competition and the first runner-up will be given performance slots at the festival August 3-5 at Chicago's Grant Park, where they'll share the stage with the likes of Interpol, Muse, Iggy And The Stooges, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Pearl Jam and Modest Mouse.
