Yeah Yeah Yeahs have revealed they're surprised they're still together after nine years.

The group, who recently released third album 'It's Blitz!', didn't think they would be together for so long.

Speaking to BBC Newsbeat the band's guitarist Nick Zinner said: "That's really overwhelming when you think about it [being together for nearly a decade] like that. Just in the sense that a lot of everyone's favourite bands are only around for four or five years - so ten years feels like an absolute eternity."

He added: "I never ever ever thought we'd still be playing music nine years later."

The band also discussed 'It's Blitz!', which, like their first two, has been co-produced by TV On The Radio's Dave Sitek.

When describing the LP, lead singer Karen O said: "Its not maturity, its wisdom in a way – the music feels more ecstatic without feeling as confrontational because that's where a lot of the energy came before."

She added: "There are ballads on this record, and a fragility that I think also is like wisdom, and only arrives after feeling a sense of comfort in ourselves."
