Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman Karen O has said that her new opera will be titled 'Stop The Virgens'.

The production, which O has described as a "psycho opera", will premiere on October 12 at the St Ann's Warehouse in Brooklyn as part of The Creators Project and runs until October 22.

The singer has also announced that her bandmates from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs will both be involved with 'Stop The Virgens', with guitarist Nick Zinner named as one of the co-composers on some of the opera's music and drummer Brian Chase set to be part of the live band for the production.

According to Pitchfork, O has said of the opera:
I have a pretty good idea of what the psycho opera is about but I wouldn't dare try and put it into my clumsy words. I'm hoping to create an original live experience, it should feel like a psychedelic ride laced with catharsis. There is emotional cost to our narrative so we're aiming to engage the audience, this piece isn't aiming to be all about spectacle or abstraction though there is good helping of both in the production. It's aiming to have all the good stuff of escapist entertainment with a few sucker punches to the gut along the way.

'Stop The Virgens' is being directed by novelist, playwright and filmmaker Adam Rapp.
