Young Knives declare 'We're bigger than God' at V Festival

Young Knives played an early-evening show at the Chelmsford leg of the V Festival tonight (August 17), during which they joked that they were "Bigger than God!".

Taking the Virgin Mobile Union stage at 7:35pm (BST), the band played a set including 'She's Attracted To', 'Turn Tail' and 'The Decision'.

The Oxfordshire-based outfit were dressed in dashing dinner jacket attire, complete with bow ties.

Drummer Ollie Askew had recently shorn his previously-large beard to a neat moustache and chin-strip combo while singer/guitarist Henry Dartnell sported red braces.

After playing opener 'Terra Firma', bassist The House Of Lords joked about his band's stature.

"We're the biggest band in the world," he declared. "We're bigger than this festival. We're bigger than God."

Dartnell later dedicated 'The Decision' to his brother, the aforementioned bassist. THOL then bigged-up Girls Aloud, who played at the festival today.

"I don't know what it is about them I like," he mused, "it must be their music."

The band upped the ante of the gig after playing soon-to-be-released single 'Dyed In The Wool', welcoming a cello player and two violinists on stage to accompany them for 'Turn Tail'.

The three-piece ended their set with an extended version of 'She's Attracted To', which they dedicated to Virgin mogul Richard Branson, "because of his great selection of pickles".
