Meng Wang Live at TMG, Portugal - "Han Gong Qiu Yue" (Autumn Moon Over The Han Palace) ARTIST: Meng Wang COUNTRY: China GENRE: Traditional Chinese Music DESCRIPTION: Young guzheng player who has won already several awards and performed in the opera "Monkey, the journey to the west" (O2 Arena) MORE ABOUT: Meng Wang studied the Guzheng in China with leading masters Yao Yide, Yao Xu and Cao Zheng since age of 6, giving solo concerts since age of 10, and received lots of awards and honours at national and international Guzheng competitions, including the Yuzhongzheng International Guzheng Competition (1999, Chaoyang, China), the Dafeng International Guzheng Competition (2001, Beijing, China) and the National Young Artist Competition (2001, Lanzhou, China). She has a passionate interest in creating cross-cultural links based on her experiences of the music of the East and the West. In 2008, she was awarded "Hull Sinfonietta's Young International Artist of the Year". She is currently working on a cross-cultural project with Hull University music department and Hull Sinfonietta, which is leading to a series of concerts across UK and Europe with a creative combination of oriental and western music. Meng Wang has performed widely in China and Europe.
