Jero (Cover by Erik Dillard) 海雪(Umi Yuki) Read Description American Translation: Hey everybody! OMG! I was a Superstar for a day! Ha ha ha! Jero is a young man who is VERY famous in Japan for his new style of traditional enka singing. When I came here this year, his career exploded on the Japanese scene with his song "Umi Yuki". So many people in Japan would mistake me for Jero when I would go out in public...(it was quite funny every time). I was even stopped by an elderly man on the bullet train on my way to Tokyo asking me if I was Jero. "Umi Yuki" is a love song in translation that means "Sea Snow". The song is about a man who is in love, but cannot be with the one of his dreams. Enka is always very emotional and is a crowd pleasure if you can sing it as a young person. Last night (August 31st) we had our annual school concert at Soul Bird Music School where I teach. As a surprise to the students and audience, I sang "Umi Yuki". It was a challenge to learn the song, but you can see in the video that the Japanese people really appreciated my rendition and we A LOT of fun with it! As a side-joke, they introced me as "Joro" which is our school's nick name for me now...ha ha ha! I hope you all enjoy watching this as much as it was for me to perform it! QUICK TRANSLATION for my Japanese viewers: Mina-san! Watashi wa Erik Dillard desu. Boku wa America kara kimashita. Watashi wa Soul Bird Music School de oshiemasu. Jero wa sugoy enka utaimasu! Kino no yoru, watashi tachi ...
