A Biographical Note - Mumtaz Ali Khan was born in village Pabbi, Pakhtunkhwa in December 1949. He completed his early education in his village. He did not continue higher studies although he got admitted to Edwardes College, Peshawar. Early on he knew what to do with his life and that was to become a film director. To realize his dream of becoming a director, he went lahore and started to work as assistant for Urdu film star and comedian Rageela [real name Saeed Khan]. He worked with Rangeela on Urdu movie "Diya aur Tofan" and "Dil aur Dunya" in 1969. When pashto movie production started in 1969, film producer Habibullah Khan asked the young Mumtaz Ali Khan to direct his pashto movie "Dara Khybar". His first pashto movie turned out to be more successful than he had ever imagined and with that started a splendid career as director. Afterwards, he produced 45 movies as a director and all of them did well. Among his successful movies were ORBAL, DEEDAN, BAGHI, DARA KHYBAR, KHANA BADOOSH, JAWARGAR, KHKAARI, NAVAY DA YAO SSPHAY, and scores of other great movies. Mumtaz Ali Khan not only produced great pashto movies, he exceptionally did well in producing Urdu and Punjabi movies and got a name for himself at par with well known Urdu and Punjabi directors such as Hasan Tariq, Nazar Ul Islam, and Pervaiz Malik.
