Bang Bang Eche - Nikee (HD) video

**This video has been shortlisted for YouTube Play! See the shortlist at www.youtube.com ** Official music video for Bang bang Eche's song Nikee. The goal of this music video was to make a statement about the current resurgence in mainstream media of low-resolution 8-bit style graphics (common in the 1980s) amidst a world of high-definition video. The black and white theme is a nod to the punk rock feel of the music, with graphics reminiscent of 80s-era raster text (inspired by the synthesizer, ubiquitous in 80s New Wave music). Both aliased and anti-aliased text contrast low-res vs. high-res computer graphics, and they combine to transform fonts into living characters. Japanese emoticons play a big role, as they echo the American fascination with Japanese culture that was perhaps at its peak in the 80s. Japanese emoticons are generally more expressive than the ones we're used to in the US, due to the number of characters used. Finally, hi-def video clips were processed through software to create a two-tone "ASCII" text in motion.
