This beautiful pavane was written in the Renaissance by Claude Gervaise. It it is found in the "Danceries" collection published in Paris by Pierre Attaingnant in 1549. I have used eight recorders in this arrangement -- soprano, alto, tenor (2), bass (2), great bass and contra-bass. Since a recorder is very similar to a single pipe of an organ (except that a recorder has holes used by the player to raise and lower the pitch), this pavane indeed sounds like it is being played on a small organ.
