I also appreciate the comments and questions people are posting, and sorry that I haven't been responding to any... so here's a few responses. I picked the top eleven guitar riffs largely based on what guitar backing tracks I can find on the internet and as well the music that I'm familiar with. I started playing guitar in the era of Classic Rock and back in those days, a lot of these songs could be considered 'heavy metal', although nowadays I don't know what's what with so much different types. (I may not call Sweet Child o' Mine heavy metal either, but I threw it in at the end as an outro while the credits roll.) I am playing an Ibanez RG350DX through a Pod GX device which records straight to computer. The guitar track is then overlaid to the backing track and the mixdown is dubbed into the video.
