This is an arrange version of Natsu No Owari (夏の終わり) by the Japanese band Tam Music Factory ( www.tam-music.com ). This band makes free MIDIs available on that website. They also released an album with their own arranged versions of some of the songs they offer. I made this arrange in order to see how would cope FM synthesis as the only sound source when used on a traditional modern pop song, mainly compared to the MP3 the band offer (considering they use top-of-the-line gear). Made using FL Studio 6 and the following VST instruments or audio tracks - 7xVOPM - 13xYamaha RY30 drum samples - 2xlayers Only FM sounds are used in this arrange, including woodblocks. Other drum sounds are PCM (Yamaha RY30 samples). More, the FM sounds only use 4 operators. Actually, VOPM is an YM2151 emulator and a very good one (and free!). Sounds are either presets supplied with VOPM (the elec. guitar and the bass), edited presets (the glockenspiel) and sounds that I made myself (the string pad is made of two filtered-saw-like sounds with different LFO frequencies that I layered together and that were detuned each other for more fatness). The snare sound is a layer of two RY30 snare drums, played in a higher pitch than normal. As you can hear it, and despite my poor mixing abilities that it sounds astoundingly good for an FM-only song (probably not better than their arrange, but really nice for FM). Hope you'll enjoy.
